Operations Recommence at Scotland's Busiest Airport In the Wake of Substantial Control Tower IT Issue

Flight operations have resumed at Scotland's primary international airport following a significant air traffic control outage halted all operations.

All aircraft movements were halted because of an systems problem that was reported at approximately 08:30.

A number of travelers were left waiting in planes on the runway as the outage continued.

Operations Restart with Ongoing Delays

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and thanked passengers for their "patience and understanding".

However, significant disruption are expected to affect schedules. Flights to London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been called off, with a host of additional flights facing hold-ups.

A spokesperson had initially projected that dozens of flights could be affected.

"Travelers are urged to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their individual travel plans," officials reiterated.

The airport attributed the full ground stop to an technical fault with its control tower systems vendor.

Flyers continue to be advised to confirm the details of their trip before departing to the terminal as backlogs are managed.
