Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.

City officials announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for details.

A senior political figure commented the attack left him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
